Is really Hockey our National game

Manav was a sixteen year old teenager. He was typically mad after cricket. His biggest aspiration was to be a cricketer. For that he could do anything. He never used to concentrate on his studies and after returning from school he just used to play cricket, cricket and cricket. His father was very ambitious as well as he saw an intense desire in his son to be a cricketer. He always used to support him whether he was wrong or right. As a result he scored very less marks in his academic session.
His mother was very worried about him but his father was not bothered of his career in academics, all he wanted was to make him a cricketer.

There was another boy in their building named Sujoy ,who was also very good in sports. He was a hockey champ of his school but no one used to notice his abilities in fact his parents was against   his playing hockey, instead they used to give them example of Manav who was a cricket champ.

Sujoy was always discouraged for Hockey and was forced more to work out for cricket.
His parents broke his morale to such an extent that inspite of being a hockey champ he stopped playing hockey and any other sport as well.

Manav who was always appreciated for his cricket related super abilities used to bog down Sujoy by making his fun about playing hockey which according to Manav was such a boring and least important game in India.
Finally   Sujoy quit hockey and joined Manav in his cricket team and was always suppressed by him as his interest was in hockey and he was best in that and not in cricket, resultantly it led into suppressed Sujoy and his aspirations and suppressed National game of India.

This is the mindset in India about its own national game. I am not denying the fact that other sports  also needs importance like our National game and it’s not wrong to be a cricketer or a hockey champ. Everyone has their own choices but yes it’s not right to lift one game up to such a height that the other game is suppressed. Cricket should also be given due recognition but ignoring Hockey and lifting cricket is not fair in our Country.

The neglected feelings towards hockey has not only snatched many of the dreams of best hockey players but also snatched future hockey champs of our country and also a question mark is put up to the dignity of our National game Hockey.

The solution according to normal man like us would have been that Sujoy should not have lost hope instead must have worked so hard into hockey that his parents would have compelled to fulfil his dreams.

But yes off course when it comes on the matter of name, fame and gain no one can be persuaded to compromise Cricket. We all know the condition has come to such an extent that Cricketers earn more money and fame than the people who are playing our National game and maintaining its dignity.

Finally the ultimate solution is with God who has something in his mind that he is not enlightening up our Country’s interest towards its National game Hockey.

Moral of the story
Parents please do not bog down your children just because cricket is famous, instead encourage them to progress and fulfil their dreams related to hockey.

I am not at all criticising the game cricket   but I am trying to inculcate some sense of respect for our national game as well through this article. Through this article I request the Government to please seriously view the condition of Hockey in our country and make some measures to uplift this game and dreams of many associated with this game.
